A woman was shot outside her Markham home in a targeted attack by a man posing as a construction worker
The suspect pretended to be a construction worker to lure the woman outside. Constable James Dickson from York Regional Police shared that the man ambushed her.
The shooting took place around 5:30 p.m. near Lee Avenue and Noble Street. Police even released video footage of the incident.
The 41-year-old woman went out to chat with the man. After talking for a while, he suddenly pulled out a gun and shot at her multiple times.
Luckily, she only suffered one gunshot wound and has since been released from the hospital.
The suspect arrived alone in a dark Audi A4 and took off in the same car. He was last seen heading east on Lee Avenue.
He’s described as tall and skinny, wearing a construction vest, helmet, dark hoodie, black pants, and a medical mask.
Dickson mentioned that it’s alarming for such a shooting to happen in broad daylight, especially in a residential area.
He noted that there’s no sign it was a home invasion since the suspect didn’t try to enter the house or demand money.
Several cars passed by during the incident, and police are asking anyone with information or video footage to reach out.
