Mississauga: A tragic incident occurred when a woman in her 50s was hit by a dump truck. This happened on Thursday, and she later died in the hospital.

The collision took place at the busy intersection of Eglinton Avenue West and Erin Mills Parkway. Peel Regional Police were called around 1:15 p.m. to investigate.

According to Constable Tyler Bell, the woman was using the crosswalk, heading east, when the truck, traveling north, struck her.

Emergency services rushed her to the hospital, but sadly, she was pronounced dead shortly after. The driver stayed at the scene, and there’s no information yet about any charges.

Bell mentioned that this intersection is quite large, with multiple lanes in all directions. It usually sees a lot of traffic, both from vehicles and pedestrians, but incidents like this are rare.

Peel police’s major collision bureau is looking into the details of the crash. They’re asking anyone who might have dashcam footage from the area at that time to reach out to them.
