Toronto braces for a bitterly cold weekend, with temperatures nearing -20°C, a rare December occurrence since 2017
Toronto: It’s about to get really cold in the city. A blast of Arctic air is rolling in, and it’s bringing the coldest temperatures we’ve seen this season.
This weekend, we might see temperatures drop close to -20°C, which hasn’t happened in December for quite a while. The last time was back in 2017!
On Saturday night, it could get down to around -19°C. That’s a serious chill, and it’s the coldest we’ve felt since February of this year.
As we head into the weekend, a snowy system is expected to hit southern Ontario, but the real story is the frigid air that follows. Toronto won’t see above-freezing temps until next Tuesday.
With the wind chill, it might feel even colder—like -17°C during the day. If you’re out enjoying the holiday festivities, make sure to bundle up!
And it gets worse. On Saturday night, wind chills could drop into the mid-minus 20s. That’s cold enough to cause frostbite and hypothermia if you’re not careful.
