Toronto police are set to provide new details on last year’s shootout involving undercover officers and two groups in Queen West
They’re streaming it live, so if you’re curious, you can catch it at 10:30 a.m. ET. It all went down on November 11, near Queen Street W. and Sudbury Street.
Initially, eight people were charged with over 30 firearm-related offenses after two groups started shooting at each other. It was chaotic! Three guys jumped out of a stolen car and opened fire on a crowd outside a recording studio.
Luckily, no one got hurt, but bullets hit an unmarked police car with two officers inside. They were just in the area for something else. That night, police seized 16 firearms, which is pretty intense.
But here’s the twist: last month, charges against five of those individuals were dropped. The police said some of them weren’t really connected to the shooting after all. It’s a lot to unpack, but it sounds like the police are trying to clear things up today.
