Find out which Canadian cities are most likely to have snow this Christmas
Vancouver: The holiday season is almost here, and it looks like some Canadian cities are in for a snowy Christmas. This year, the chances of waking up to a white Christmas are looking much better than last year.
Last year, many places had a “green Christmas” due to El Niño, but this time around, winter weather has already made its way from British Columbia to Newfoundland. The big question is where that snow will stick around until Christmas morning.
In British Columbia, Vancouver usually has a slim chance of snow, with historical odds sitting at just 11%. Unfortunately, this year, the odds are even worse, with a zero percent chance of a white Christmas in both Vancouver and Victoria.
On the Prairies, though, things are looking up! Cities like Edmonton, Regina, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg are almost guaranteed to have snow on the ground come Christmas morning. The cold temperatures will help keep the snowpack intact.
In Ontario and Quebec, the forecast is a bit tricky. A cold front is moving in, which could help maintain the snow in places like Ottawa and Thunder Bay. However, Toronto’s chances are a bit of a toss-up, especially with a potential rain-snow mix on Christmas Eve.
Meanwhile, the East Coast is gearing up for a significant winter storm, which should bring heavy snow to cities like Halifax and Fredericton. Unfortunately, St. John’s in Newfoundland might miss out on the snow this year.
