Vancouver: Wow, what a Christmas Day it’s been! Strong winds and heavy rain are really hitting B.C.’s south coast. It’s wild out there!

Environment Canada is saying gusts are reaching up to 120 kilometers per hour in some spots. That’s no joke!

They’ve got wind warnings out for places like Metro Vancouver, Greater Victoria, and even Vancouver Island. It’s a bit of a mess.

With these winds, you might want to secure any loose items outside. They could easily become projectiles, and we don’t want any holiday decorations getting wrecked.

On Cumshewa Island, they recorded similar winds earlier today. It’s just a crazy weather day all around.

And if you’re in Metro Vancouver or Squamish, be ready for a lot of rain. They’re expecting up to 100 millimeters in some areas!

BC Ferries has even had to cancel several routes because of the weather. So, if you had plans to travel, you might want to check ahead.

Stay safe out there, everyone! This report was first published on December 25, 2024, by The Canadian Press.
