The situation is so serious that the district attorney has warned defense attorneys about over 3,600 drug cases. They’re even letting police destroy old drug evidence from cases cleared before 2015. Joshua Reiss, a legal expert, said this isn’t just a local issue. It’s happening all over the country!
This rat problem has been around for years. Back in March 2024, cops in New Orleans found rats feasting on drugs in their evidence room too. The NOPD chief even joked that the rats were all high!
