Montreal: Wow, what a year it’s been for Quebec! 2024 turned out to be the warmest year on record, and it really outdid itself. In Montreal, temperatures were 0.7 degrees higher than the previous record from 2023.

And it’s not just Montreal. Val-d’Or saw an even bigger jump, with temperatures 0.9 degrees warmer than the old record from 2010. Other cities like Rimouski, Saguenay, Sherbrooke, and Gatineau also broke their own records.

It was a hot year all around. Every single month in Montreal was above average. The first three months really stood out, especially February, which was a whopping 4.4 degrees above normal.

December was the only month that didn’t stray too far from the average, just 0.2 degrees above. It could have been the only month to dip below average, but those warm late December days saved it.

Some folks might be surprised that December felt pretty average, given how mild it was at the end of the month. But parts of the province did see some chillier temps, especially around Christmas.
