A 4.1-magnitude earthquake rattled Quebec and Ontario, with over 1,400 residents reporting shaking across the regions on Sunday morning
Maniwaki: So, there was this earthquake that hit on Sunday morning, and it was a bit of a surprise for folks in Quebec and Ontario. Over 1,400 people felt the ground shake, which is quite a few, right?
The quake was centered about 75 kilometers north-northwest of Maniwaki and around 150 kilometers northeast of Pembroke. It wasn’t super deep, just 18 kilometers down.
People from all over reported feeling it, even some from as far away as Georgian Bay and Brampton. Montreal and Quebec City also had their share of reports, but it seems like the areas around Petawawa and Ottawa felt it the most.
Luckily, there was no damage reported, and it looks like everything is okay. Just a little shake to remind us that Mother Nature is still in charge!
Interestingly, the last big quake in the area was a 5.2 back in 2013, which was felt in places like Montreal and Toronto. So, this one was a bit milder but still got people talking.
