Mississauga: Peel police are still trying to talk things out with a guy they think is armed. This all started after a shooting on Friday morning.

The incident kicked off around 10 a.m. when two neighbors had a disagreement on Beacon Lane. Acting Sgt. Sarah Patten shared that the suspect is believed to be holed up in a house on the same street.

As of 6 p.m., they were still working on negotiations. Earlier, Patten mentioned they weren’t treating it as a “barricaded person” situation just yet.

The victim, a man in his 50s, was rushed to a trauma center with serious injuries but is now stable, which is a relief.

While they didn’t reveal much about the suspect, police think they know who he is.

For safety, St. David of Wales Separate School was put on hold-and-secure but that was lifted by 3:15 p.m.

There’s been a heavy police presence in the area all day, and they plan to keep it that way while they investigate. They’re asking folks to steer clear of the area and for neighbors to stay inside if they can.
