Michael Ford, nephew of Premier Doug Ford, is stepping back from politics, choosing not to run in the upcoming provincial election.
Toronto: So, Michael Ford is calling it quits on his political career for now. He just announced he won’t be running in the next provincial election. Pretty big news, right?
He shared this on social media, saying it’s been a great experience serving the people of Toronto and Ontario. But he feels it’s time for a new chapter in his life.
Michael, who’s the nephew of Premier Doug Ford, was first elected in 2022. He quickly became the minister of citizenship and multiculturalism. He held that role until he took a leave of absence last September to focus on his health.
Before jumping into provincial politics, he was a city councillor in Etobicoke North and even a school board trustee. It’ll be interesting to see what he does next, but he mentioned he wants to stay involved and help out in any way he can.
