Vancouver: So, it looks like British Columbia is in for a bit of a weather shake-up this weekend. A few small systems are rolling in, but thankfully, it won’t be as wild as what we saw in late December.

On Friday, one of these systems is set to hit, bringing rain to the coast and snow to the Interior. The rain will kick off on southern Vancouver Island in the morning and then spread to Vancouver and Abbotsford by lunchtime.

We’re looking at about 20-30 mm of rain by Friday night, with some areas on Vancouver Island possibly getting even more. Meanwhile, the Interior will see snow, starting around noon and sticking around for a few hours, likely leaving 5-10 cm by the evening.

Just a heads up, if you’re traveling through the mountain passes, the snow could make things tricky. Winds will also pick up on Friday, getting gustier on Saturday.

Another system is expected to bring more rain to the coast and more snow overnight into Saturday for the Interior. It sounds like next week will be pretty active and wet, especially for the central and northern coast regions. Plus, we might see some warmer-than-usual temperatures across the province through mid-January.

Make sure to stay tuned for the latest weather updates if you’re in the area!
