Canada’s winter has been mild, but frigid temperatures are on the horizon as we move into February
Toronto: How’s your winter treating you, Canada? So far, it’s been pretty mild, but that’s about to change. We’re halfway through the season, and there’s still a lot of winter left to go.
As we wrap up January and head into February, expect a shift. The first half of winter has been warmer than usual across the country, but that won’t last. A cold snap is on the way.
In Western Canada, Calgary has enjoyed some warmer days, but snowfall has been lacking. It’s been a bit of a mixed bag, but things are about to get chillier.
As we move into February, temperatures are expected to drop, especially in British Columbia and the western regions. So, if you’ve been enjoying the mild weather, get ready for a reality check.
Meanwhile, the eastern half of Canada is bracing for the polar vortex. This means some seriously cold air is heading our way, especially in the third week of January. It’s going to feel like winter, that’s for sure.
While we might see some milder days later in February, the snow has been a bit shy this season. Toronto hasn’t even seen a significant snowfall yet, which is unusual.
So, keep an eye on the weather. The storm track is shifting, and we might finally get some snow in southern Ontario and Quebec. Just be prepared for a mix of rain, snow, and ice as winter continues to unfold.
