A messy winter storm is set to hit Atlantic Canada, bringing heavy snow and strong winds, especially affecting New Brunswick and surrounding areas.
Fredericton: Get your snow-clearing gear ready, folks! A messy winter storm is rolling into Atlantic Canada, and it’s going to be a doozy.
This storm is expected to hit eastern Quebec and sweep through New Brunswick, bringing heavy, wet snow and some strong winds. So, if you’re in the area, brace yourself for a wild ride.
As we head into the week, the snow and wind will ramp up, especially Sunday night into Monday. If you’ve got to be out and about Monday morning, be prepared for some tricky driving conditions.
In New Brunswick, we could see 15-25 cm of snow, especially in Fredericton. Meanwhile, Prince Edward Island is caught in a bit of a tug-of-war between rain and snow. The western side might get hit hard, while the east could just see a light dusting.
Over in eastern Quebec, communities could see 10-15+ cm of snow, so it’s best to keep an eye on the weather if you’re in that neck of the woods.
As for Nova Scotia, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. The Bay of Fundy area might see some snow, but it’s hard to say how much with the warmer air trying to push in.
And don’t forget about the wind! Gusts of over 50 km/h could make visibility pretty poor during the heavier snowfall. So, if you’re out driving, take it slow.
After this storm passes, we’re in for a significant cooldown, thanks to the polar vortex making its presence felt. Stay tuned for updates and keep safe out there!
