Ontario: A wild incident unfolded on Highway 412. A 45-year-old man is in trouble after he allegedly swerved a taxi into a tractor-trailer. This happened while he was in the front passenger seat.

The whole thing went down around 5 p.m. on a Wednesday. Dashcam footage shared online shows the taxi moving toward the truck. They were both going the same way. Suddenly, the accused grabs the steering wheel.

The taxi crashes into the truck, but the driver quickly regains control. Then, the accused yanks the wheel again, making the taxi scrape against the trailer. You can hear the backseat passengers screaming. The driver is clearly confused, asking, “What the f-ck are you doing?”

After the crash, both the accused and the driver get out. Meanwhile, the truck pulls over in the distance. OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt called the footage “absolutely shocking.”

He mentioned that four people were in the backseat during the incident. They knew the accused, but their relationship wasn’t clear. Thankfully, no one got hurt, but the damage was significant.

The man now faces charges for dangerous driving and mischief. He’s still in custody after a bail hearing. Police are trying to figure out what was going through his mind.

So far, it doesn’t look like insurance fraud is involved. Dashcams can really help in these situations, Schmidt noted. They can either incriminate or clear someone’s name, making it easier for investigators to understand what happened.
