Scarborough: A heartbreaking incident unfolded when a 39-year-old man from Toronto was charged after an 8-month-old baby girl died in the hospital. This tragic event happened over the weekend during a house fire.

The fire broke out near Finch Avenue East and Brimley Road. Emergency services were called to the scene on Saturday morning. It was reported that the fire started in the basement of the home.

Four people were taken to the hospital, including the baby girl, a four-year-old boy, a woman in her 70s, and the man accused of starting the fire. The boy had smoke inhalation but is expected to be okay, while the man had injuries he caused himself.

Sadly, the baby girl was pronounced dead at the hospital. The man now faces serious charges, including arson with disregard for human life, and he was set to appear in court on Wednesday.

Police mentioned that the individuals involved are family members, but they didn’t share any details about their relationships. They’re asking anyone with information about the fire to come forward and help out.
