Matthew Knies shined with two goals and an assist, leading the Maple Leafs to a 5-3 victory against the Lightning on Monday night
Auston Matthews and William Nylander also got in on the action, each scoring a goal. Joseph Woll was solid in net, making 27 saves. Mitch Marner even added an empty-netter to seal the deal.
On the Lightning’s side, Nick Paul scored twice, but it just wasn’t enough. The Leafs have now beaten Tampa three times in a row this season, which is impressive.
Nylander kicked things off with a breakaway goal, and Knies made sure to keep the momentum going right before the second period ended. It was a back-and-forth game, but the Leafs held strong.
Woll matched his career-high with this game, and it was his 61st regular-season game. Next up, the Maple Leafs will face the Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday. Should be another exciting match!
