Southern Ontario braces for more snow as warnings remain in effect, making travel hazardous
London: Southern Ontario is really getting hit hard with snow right now. Another round of snow squalls is causing closures and making travel tricky.
Environment and Climate Change Canada has issued warnings, saying visibility could drop and roads might get closed. They’re expecting an extra 5 to 15 cm of snow today, which is just piling on top of what’s already there.
It’s a bit of a mess out there, and if those squalls stick around in one spot, we could see even more snow. Thankfully, they should start to ease up later tonight.
Looking ahead, after this cold snap, temperatures will warm up a bit by Friday. We might see some light snow as a storm from the southern U.S. moves in, mixing with the weather systems up north.
Saturday should be partly sunny, but don’t be surprised if some lake-effect snow hits areas near Lake Huron and Georgian Bay. It looks like we’ll have more of that snow into next week, too.
While no big storms are on the horizon, things might get a bit more active later in January. We could see some systems tapping into moisture from the Gulf, which could bring more snow our way.
