Mississauga: A tragic incident unfolded early Monday morning. Homicide detectives are now on the case after a man was involved in a car crash that followed a shooting.

The Peel Regional Police reported the crash happened just before 2 a.m. at Dixie and Derry roads. Paramedics rushed a 24-year-old man, later identified as Gurvinder Singh from Caledon, to the hospital in critical condition. Sadly, he didn’t make it.

Constable Richard Chin shared that the chaos began with a shooting at an industrial area nearby. Gurvinder was reportedly in a fight before he was shot and tried to escape in his vehicle. Unfortunately, he crashed while fleeing.

Authorities are still piecing together the details, including how many shots were fired. They’ve closed Dixie Road southbound between Derry and Midway as they investigate. A coroner will look into whether Gurvinder’s death was due to the crash or the shooting. It’s a tough situation for everyone involved.
