Toronto police have made a record cocaine seizure with ties to a Mexican cartel, arresting six individuals in the process.
Police Chief Myron Demkiw shared that this massive haul is linked to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel from Mexico. He explained how the drugs traveled all the way from Mexico, crossed the U.S. border, and ended up in Canada before they could be sold on the streets.
This operation, called Project Castillo, kicked off back in August 2024. It involved not just Toronto Police but also York Regional Police, CBSA, and the RCMP. They executed several search warrants across the Greater Toronto Area, which led to the arrests of six people—four Canadians and two from Mexico.
Demkiw emphasized how important this bust is for the community, saying that getting 835 kilograms of cocaine off the streets will really help improve the wellbeing of everyone around. It’s a big win for law enforcement and the community alike. More updates are expected soon!
