Fredericton: A big winter storm is rolling into Atlantic Canada and parts of eastern Quebec this weekend. It’s expected to dump a lot of snow, especially as we head into Sunday night.
So, get ready for some serious snow and strong winds. The worst of it will hit Sunday night and could really mess with Monday morning commutes, particularly in New Brunswick.

The first wave of this storm will arrive Sunday morning, bringing mostly rain to the Maritimes and Newfoundland. But don’t let that fool you; heavier snow is on the way.
In fact, southern Nova Scotia could see 10-20 mm of rain, while northern New Brunswick and the Gaspe Peninsula might get 5-10 cm of snow from this initial system.
Then, the main event hits Sunday night. Expect heavy snow across central and northern New Brunswick, with totals possibly reaching 15-25 cm. It’s going to be a snowy night!
Prince Edward Island is in a tricky spot, too. The western part might get a good amount of snow, while the eastern side could just see a light dusting.
Eastern Quebec isn’t off the hook either, with some areas east of Sherbrooke expecting 10-15+ cm of snow.
Wind gusts over 50 km/h could make things even tougher, reducing visibility during the heaviest snowfall. And there’s still some uncertainty about how much snow will actually fall in certain areas, especially near the Bay of Fundy and across Nova Scotia.
