Saskatchewan: This weekend, the eastern Prairies are in for a wild weather ride. After some of the coldest temps of the year, things are about to warm up just enough for freezing rain to hit parts of Saskatchewan and Manitoba on Sunday. Then, it’ll move into northwestern Ontario on Monday.

So, if you’re out and about, be careful! Freezing rain can make roads super slippery, especially with fresh snow on top. It’s a good idea to take it easy if you’re driving this weekend.

Here’s the scoop: a low-pressure system from the northern U.S. is bringing moisture our way. It’ll start as freezing rain on Sunday morning in southeastern Saskatchewan, affecting places like Regina and Weyburn. The rain will creep into western Manitoba too, and even though it’s just a couple of millimeters, it’s enough to make things tricky.

By Sunday afternoon, snow will start to fall in eastern Saskatchewan and then spread into southern Manitoba by night. Winnipeg could see about 5-10 cm of snow, which is quite a bit!

On Monday, the snow will keep coming for parts of southern Manitoba, and northwestern Ontario will also feel the effects, with around 5 cm expected in places like Kenora and Dryden.

Oh, and don’t forget about the wind! Manitoba could see gusts up to 60 km/h, which might make visibility a bit of a challenge along with the snow.

Looking ahead, temperatures are set to drop again, and there’s a chance of more snow throughout the week. So, keep an eye on the forecast!
