Orillia: Recently, a disturbing incident unfolded in Orillia. Four people are now facing serious charges after a man was found bound and beaten inside a box.

It all started on January 12 when police got a call about a disturbance on the Rail Trail. When they arrived, they discovered the victim in a plastic box, tied up and showing signs of assault.

Officers quickly jumped into action, providing first aid until paramedics arrived. The victim was taken to a local hospital and later transferred to a Toronto hospital for more treatment.

Following the incident, police executed a search warrant at a home on Moffat Street. They arrested four individuals, all from Orillia.

Ryan Mars, 38, faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault and kidnapping. Ashley Newman, also 38, is charged with similar offenses. Daniel Boonstra, 32, and Bronson Ritchie, 34, are also in custody, facing kidnapping charges among others.

All four are currently awaiting bail hearings in Orillia. It’s a shocking case that has left the community in disbelief.
