Christy Clark clarifies her past statements regarding her Conservative party membership amid leadership considerations
OTTAWA: So, Christy Clark, the former premier of British Columbia, is in the spotlight again. She recently said she never joined the Conservative party, but now she’s backtracking on that claim.
In a chat with CBC Radio, she mentioned she’s thinking about running for the federal Liberal leadership. But she’s not too happy about how quickly everything is moving.
Clark also denied voting for Jean Charest in the last Conservative leadership race, which Pierre Poilievre won. She insists she’s always been a “lifelong Liberal.”
However, the Conservatives have some receipts. They shared a screenshot showing she was an active member from June 2022 to June 2023.
On social media, she even used a facepalm emoji and admitted she “misspoke.” Still, she stands by her support for Charest to block Poilievre from winning.
This whole situation has definitely stirred the pot in Canadian politics!
