The family of a woman who tragically died in Lake Ontario has shared her story and the impact she had on those around her
Toronto: A woman lost her life when her car went into the icy waters of Lake Ontario at Ashbridges Bay. Her family has identified her as Agnesa Shukulli, a 25-year-old who moved to Canada from Albania in 2021.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on a Sunday night after reports of a vehicle in the lake. They found six people needing help, with one woman in critical condition. Sadly, Agnesa later passed away in the hospital.
The driver, a 23-year-old man from Oakville, is now facing charges related to the incident. Agnesa’s family described her as a kind and beautiful person who made a positive impact on everyone she met.
Her family is working to bring her body back to Albania for burial. They shared that Agnesa came to Canada with dreams of a better life and to support her family back home.
Agnesa worked at Serano Bakery in East York, where her colleagues remember her as a warm and joyful presence. The bakery has started a GoFundMe to assist her family during this tough time, and they’ve already raised over $65,000.
