Uncover the charm of lesser-known ski spots on the East Coast, perfect for your next winter adventure
Halifax: If you’re thinking about hitting the slopes, Nova Scotia has some cool spots. Sure, it might not take as long to get down the hill as it does in Whistler or Banff, but the views are still stunning. You’ll have a blast making runs while soaking in the scenery.
The nearest resort to Halifax is Ski Martock, just under an hour away. It’s a neat little place near Windsor, standing at 600 feet with seven trails. They even have a terrain park for those who love snowboarding and free-skiing.
If you want to mix things up, check out Ski Wentworth. It’s in the Wentworth Valley and has 20 trails, plus some awesome tree skiing. And get this: once a year, skiers and snowboarders are encouraged to wear kilts to celebrate Robbie Burns, the famous Scottish poet. How fun is that?
Over in Cape Breton, you can choose between Ski Ben Eoin and Ski Cape Smokey. Ski Cape Smokey just added a gondola, so you can enjoy a cozy ride to the top. Meanwhile, Ski Ben Eoin offers breathtaking views of Bras D’Or Lake as you glide down the trails. Don’t forget to check out the video above for a sneak peek!
