Sudarshan Yellamaraju celebrates his first professional victory at the Korn Ferry Tour in the Bahamas, marking a significant milestone in his career.
The 23-year-old golfer won by five strokes, finishing with a fantastic final round of 64. That’s the lowest score of the day, and he even broke the tournament record by seven shots. How cool is that?
Yellamaraju is now the third Canadian to win this event, following in the footsteps of Adam Svensson and Ben Silverman. He started the final round with a one-shot lead and really pulled away to secure this victory.
He shared how great it feels to see all his hard work pay off. Yellamaraju, who was born in India and moved to Canada when he was young, has been dedicated to golf from a young age. He didn’t go the college route in the U.S. but jumped straight into professional golf after high school.
He’s part of Golf Canada’s National Team and is the second Canadian to win a men’s golf title in just three weeks. Nick Taylor, who won the Sony Open, even congratulated him on social media. It’s nice to see fellow golfers supporting each other!
Yellamaraju’s coach thinks he has what it takes to be a star on the PGA Tour. He’s been working hard and has a solid game, which is paying off. After a tough qualifying process, he earned his spot on the Korn Ferry Tour and made the most of it in just his second event.
He kept his focus during the final round, not missing a single green or fairway. It was a smooth performance, and he was thrilled with how it all turned out. Plus, it was his dad’s birthday, making the win even more special.
Yellamaraju feels like everything just fell into place, and it’s exciting to see what’s next for him in his golf journey.
