David Moscovic expresses concern over Elon Musk’s controversial salute at a Trump event, recalling painful memories from the past
Ottawa: So, there’s this 95-year-old Holocaust survivor named David Moscovic. He’s been around long enough to see some pretty wild stuff, but he was really shaken by something Elon Musk did recently.
At a Trump event, Musk made this straight-arm gesture that looked a lot like a Nazi salute. Moscovic couldn’t believe his eyes. He thought we’d moved past these kinds of things.
Musk later said he meant it as a way to show support for the crowd, but it didn’t sit well with a lot of people. The Anti-Defamation League even chimed in, saying it was just an awkward move, not a salute.
But then Musk took it a step further. He posted some Nazi-themed jokes on X, which really didn’t help his case. The head of the Anti-Defamation League called him out, reminding everyone that the Holocaust was no laughing matter.
Moscovic spoke at an event in Ottawa to mark the 80th anniversary of Auschwitz’s liberation. He was just 14 when he was taken there with his family, and he’s the only one who made it out alive. It’s a heavy story, and it’s clear that these memories still haunt him.
