Ontario is bracing for more snow this weekend, followed by a significant drop in temperatures as Arctic air moves in
Ontario: Another system is rolling in, bringing snow from Friday night into Saturday morning. It’s not going to be a huge amount, but enough to make the roads a bit slippery.
So, if you’re driving, keep your eyes peeled for changing conditions. It might slow you down a bit, so plan accordingly.
After a brief warm-up, get ready for some seriously cold weather starting Sunday. We’re talking about the coldest temps we’ve seen in years!
In northern Ontario, temperatures could drop by about 24°C in just one day. That’s wild! Southern Ontario won’t be as extreme, but expect a noticeable drop of around 15°C.
Saturday will see highs between +1°C and -3°C, but don’t get too comfy; that warm spell won’t last long.
Once the Arctic air hits, it’s going to stick around for a few days. We might even see some lake-effect snow next week, but it should be spread out enough to avoid any crazy totals.
For many folks, this will be the coldest weather they’ve felt in years. For example, Kenora is looking at a high of -28°C, the first time it’s been that low since January 2019.
London and Ottawa are also in for some chilly nights, with lows of -22°C and -27°C, respectively. Toronto’s daytime high on Tuesday is expected to be -15°C, the coldest it’s been since January 2019.
As we move into February, there’s a chance for milder air to push up from the U.S., but it’s too soon to tell if that’ll bring spring-like weather or messy storms.
