Alberta experienced an unexpected warm spell, with temperatures soaring above Florida’s, marking a surprising weather reversal this weekend.
Edmonton: So, guess what happened this weekend? Alberta totally flipped the script on Florida’s sunny reputation. While Florida usually basks in warmth, Alberta woke up to some seriously high temperatures.
On Saturday, many places in Alberta were about 20°C warmer than usual. Can you believe that? Lethbridge was sitting at 11°C when it should’ve been around -11°C. Even Fort McMurray was above freezing, which is wild for this time of year.
Meanwhile, Florida was dealing with a cold snap. Places like Myrtle Beach hit -4°C, and Jacksonville even dropped to -1°C. It’s not every day you see Florida getting the chill while Alberta is basking in warmth.
This crazy weather shift was thanks to a Pineapple Express bringing moisture from Hawaii. The mountains did their thing, soaking up most of that moisture and sending dry air to Alberta, which cranked up the temps.
So, while Alberta might have lost some hockey games to Florida in the past, this weekend, it definitely got the last laugh with its surprising weather twist!
