Ontario is set for a warm spell with two rounds of rain and warmth, impacting both southern and northern regions this weekend
Ontario: It looks like the province is gearing up for a warm end to the year. An active storm track is moving across the Great Lakes, bringing two rounds of weather.
The first round is a Texas low that’s heading over Lake Superior. This will bring some warmth and moisture to both southern and northern Ontario.
As the warm air moves in, a new low will form along the cold front, leading to more warmth and plenty of rain, especially in the southern parts.
On Saturday, freezing rain could be a concern for northeastern, central, and eastern Ontario. Areas like Sudbury and Bancroft might see slippery roads and icy sidewalks.
For most of the rest of the province, rain will take over on Saturday. Temperatures are expected to rise, with the biggest changes happening in the far north.
By Sunday, the second system will roll into southern Ontario, bringing even more moisture. While temperatures will drop below freezing in the northwest, the Greater Toronto Area and eastern Ontario could hit the double digits.
Expect about 30-40 mm of rain across southern Ontario, stretching toward Quebec City, starting in the afternoon. Overall, temperatures will stay well above average for several days.
